Augustin Kabuya, Secretary General of Udps/Tshisekedi, completes a successful European tour

The Secretary General of Udps/Tshisekedi and Vice-President of the Socialist International, Augustin Kabuya, accompanied by a delegation, traveled to Europe from May 19 to 26, 2023. Throughout his stay, he had constructive discussions with various delegations as well as with political leaders. When he arrived at Zaventem airport, he was warmly welcomed by activists and executives of his party as well as those of other Udps allies, led by the Federal President of Belgium and the National Secretary in charge of external relations, Ange Pabolangi.

The SG met successively with several delegations from the Federations of Great Britain and Belgium, the section of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and young people from the “Autre vision du Congo” party. He provided advice to members of various federal committees on discipline, sincerity, unity and non-exposure of party problems in social networks. He also mentioned the situation of the major problems which weaken these federations and invited the members to take into consideration the fighters of the Udps of all kinds.

The SG also traveled to Paris, where he met with members of the federation in France to discuss the current status of the activities of the federation, preparations for the presidential election, financial and material means for the federation. . He also visited Alexandre Ngyekama, Federal President hospitalized at the Gonesse Hospital Center in the Ile de France region, with a message of comfort and support.

Back in Brussels, the SG received in audiences several individuals and especially members of the federations of the Netherlands and Germany. He also went to Zaventem airport to welcome his distinguished guest Mrs. Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International, who had come from Germany in discussion with the Spd party. They had constructive discussions, particularly on the prospects of the Socialist International. He also visited the DRC Embassy in Belgium to discuss questions on the state of the diplomatic mission, the passport shortage situation, communication with other embassies and the May 20 opposition march.

To conclude his trip, the SG met the Udps community in Belgium and exchanged with them in the Nh Brussels Carrefour room, rue du Marché aux Herbes 110, 1000 Brussels. It was an intense moment, with hundreds of fighters, where he recalled the importance of unity and discipline for the success of the party.

This trip is an example of the importance of diplomacy in Congolese politics. The discussions held have surely had a positive impact on the political situation in the country.
