The Secretary General of the UDPS/Tshisekedi and Vice-President of the Socialist International, Augustin Kabuya, was very active during his visit to the Paris-Brussels axis in May 2023. Warmly welcomed by activists and executives from his party as well as those of other allies of the UDPS, he had an intense political activity.
On May 20, 2023, the Secretary General met with delegations from Great Britain, Luxembourg, Belgium and that of the “Autre vision du Congo” party. He also stressed the importance of discipline and unity of UDPS fighters during these meetings.
Arrived in Paris on May 22, the SG spoke with the members of the French federation and visited Alexandre Ngyekama, hospitalized federal president. Back in Brussels, he received several individuals and especially members of the Dutch and German federations who came to take part in the meeting organized with the day-to-day manager of the ruling party.
On May 24, accompanied by Ms Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International, he went to Brussels City Hall to meet Philippe Close, 1st Vice-President of the Belgian Socialist Party and Mayor of Brussels. The meeting focused on the situation of relations between the UDPS and the Belgian Socialist Party but also on the activities of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi.
At the end of his visit, on May 25, 2023, the SG met the members of the UDPS community of Belgium in the NH Brussels Carrefour room in Brussels. In front of hundreds of fighters, he gave advice on the conduct of politics.
In short, Augustin Kabuya’s visit was very productive, marked by meetings with political figures and UDPS fighters across Europe. These exchanges helped to strengthen discipline and unity within the party.
