“The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa are making great strides: an inspection visit reveals 80% progress in the work”

The Director of the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie (CIJF), Zeina Mina, recently expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the work for the 9th Games of La Francophonie which will be held in Kinshasa from July 28 to August 06, 2023. She expressed his confidence in the ability of the President of the Republic and the government to meet the standards required by the OIF, adding that the progress observed was vast and of high quality.

This declaration comes following an inspection visit to the stadium sites of Martyrs and Tata Raphaël, carried out with the Congolese Minister of Infrastructure, Alexis Gisaro, during which they noted an estimated evolution of 80% of the execution of the works. This is a significant step forward from their last visit on May 14.

The construction companies are currently working on the installation of seats in the colors of the DRC flag in the twin gymnasium and the Martyrs stadium, on the hardwood floor cut into strips and placed on a basement, as well as on the laying of the bleachers on the ground adjoining the Martyrs stadium, where the lawn is also in good condition.

At the site of the Tâta Raphaël stadium, ten buildings have already been erected out of fifteen, where there will be restaurants, an accreditation room and accommodation. The judo and freestyle room is ready and undergoing minor finishing touches.

Recall that the 9th Games of La Francophonie had been postponed twice due to the withdrawal of Canada and the Covid-19 pandemic. The work in progress, however, suggests a successful organization of this major event.
