“The CENI DRC is launching an operation to issue free duplicate voter cards to guarantee democratic participation”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) recently launched an operation to gradually issue duplicate voter cards in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative aims to help voters who have lost their card or whose information is erased.

In an interview on Radio Okapi, Jean-Baptiste Itipo, communication director of the CENI, explained that this operation concerns people who have lost their voter card as well as those whose writings have faded over time. He stressed that the issuance of duplicates is free.

He also invited public and private services to deposit voter cards forgotten or abandoned by their owners, as well as anyone who has found lost cards, at the CENI headquarters.

This is an important measure to guarantee citizens’ right to vote and ensure transparency in the upcoming elections. Voter cards are essential to identify and validate the eligibility of voters, and their loss or damage can compromise this democratic process.

The issuance of duplicate voter cards is an important service offered by the CENI, and it is encouraging to see that it is accessible free of charge. This facilitates the electoral participation of all citizens, even those who have encountered difficulties with their voter card.

It is essential that public and private services collaborate in depositing the voter cards found, in order to return them to their legitimate owners. This cooperation contributes to building trust in the institutions responsible for guaranteeing the integrity of the electoral process.

In conclusion, the operation to issue duplicate voter cards launched by the CENI in the Democratic Republic of Congo makes it possible to solve the problems related to the loss or deterioration of these essential documents for the vote
