Launch of work to fill in a ravine at the Kapongo Institute in Tshikapa, in the province of Kasaï in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The authorities proceeded with the opening of these works after the delivery of a batch of equipment and backfilling machines sent by the central government. Among the group of guests present during the launch of the works was the governor of the province of Kasaï, Dieudonné Pieme, who expressed his gratitude for the rapid intervention of the State and the efforts made in this process of eradicating this ravine, already at the origin of the erosion of several houses in the district.
On this occasion, Governor Pieme called on the population of Kasai to lend a hand to the technical services responsible for securing and ensuring the smooth running of the said works.
This initiative was welcomed by the local population who thanked President Félix Tshisekedi for acting continuously to solve the problems hindering the tranquility of the Congolese population. The community also recognized the involvement of Governor Pieme in the flawless implementation of this project by providing the anti-erosion equipment and materials.
This action undertaken by the provincial authorities could contribute significantly to the promotion of sustainable development while preventing the risk of collapse of houses and buildings, increased by the torrential rains that have raged in the region in recent times.
The phenomenon of erosion linked to extreme climatic conditions undoubtedly has an impact on the environment and on the safety of local populations. The commitment of the authorities in the implementation of concrete solutions to stem this scourge therefore remains crucial for the well-being of the population.
