The province of Kwango, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is facing an insecurity crisis in the territory of Popokabaka. Indeed, the attackers called “the Mobondo” sow terror in several villages of the region.

Every morning, men, young and old, are attacked with the facet of machetes, receiving three strokes each time. These assailants, covered with a red band on their heads, are also armed, which makes the situation even more worrying.

Worse still, any captive who refuses to receive these three blows is threatened with being beheaded, which adds to the gravity of the situation. The Congolese authorities want to be reassuring, but the situation is far from being under control.

This crisis raises questions about the strength of the security forces in the region. In addition, the presence of these armed criminal gangs suggests a worrying situation just a few kilometers from the Congolese capital Kinshasa.

It is urgent that measures be taken to put an end to this insecurity which rages in these villages. Public opinion expects concrete actions from the authorities to restore peace and security in the region
