“An abused judge: Why it is urgent to guarantee that justice respects human rights”

Respect for human rights is a fundamental value that every individual and organization should respect. Unfortunately, the behavior of some justice officials does not always respect this very important value. The shocking testimony of a judge mistreated by justice officials is a perfect example of this, and it highlights the need to ensure that justice is impartial and respectful to all.

In this specific incident, Judge NDONDA, legal consultant of the company IREC, was mistreated and attacked by agents of Justice without valid reason. He had been mandated by the said company to issue a legal opinion. As he humbly awaited his appointment, APJs from Gombe showed up to meet the Director General as part of an ongoing file. The DG was not present when they arrived as he was ill and recovering. Despite this, the APJs decided to force their way into the premises of the IREC company and begin to brutalize the personnel present. It was then that Judge NDONDA intervened to explain the situation to them.

Unfortunately, the APJs ignored his explanation and engaged in acts of violence against him. They assaulted him, strangled him with his tie, and the Judge was publicly humiliated. However, he was a magistrate appreciated for his human and professional qualities.

This incident is a perfect example of the behavioral deviation of some justice agents who believe themselves stronger than they are and who are responsible for the violation of human rights. It is necessary to guarantee that justice is impartial and respectful of human rights. The authorities must take the necessary measures to prevent such acts from happening in the future.

In conclusion, this unfortunate incident is an important reminder to all of us of the importance of respecting human rights and being vigilant about the behavior of justice officials. We must work together to ensure equity and justice for all individuals, regardless of their socio-economic status
