Title: The 4 opposition leaders are planning a new peaceful march in Kinshasa on June 21, 2023.
On June 21, 2023, Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Matata Ponyo and Dely Sesanga intend to organize a new peaceful march in the city province of Kinshasa. This new march comes just after their sit-in in front of the CENI premises, muffled by the police. They persist in their demands and continue to demand the organization of free, transparent and credible elections while castigating the current configuration of the CENI and the constitutional court.
Through correspondence sent this Thursday, June 01 to the governor of the city of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila, the secretaries general of the four political parties, ECIDÉ, Ensemble Pour La République, LGD and ENVOL, informed the urban authority of their march project peaceful. This march will start from district 3 in the municipality of Masina and will pass by Boulevard Lumumba to end at Place Saint-Raphaël 1st rue Limete. The organizing parties have invited the governor to take all necessary measures to supervise and secure this activity.
The Congolese opposition multiplies protest actions in a context of political tensions and challenges to democracy. It displays its rejection of the current configuration of the CENI and the constitutional court and demands their renovation to allow elections deemed fair and transparent.
Therefore, the political and administrative authorities of the country are more than ever challenged as to the management of the demonstrations and the crude socio-political reality they are going through.
