President Félix Tshisekedi puts in place a strategy to prepare for his re-election

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, is actively preparing for the general elections scheduled for December 20. With this in mind, he has set up a discreet task force within the Presidency of the Republic, responsible for preparing his re-election for a second term, according to information reported by Jeune Afrique.

This strategic team is focusing on the beginning of September, when the official candidacies will be submitted, marking the real start of the electoral campaign. Félix Tshisekedi, elected in December 2018 during the country’s first democratic alternation, can count on the support of the Sacred Union of the Nation, a political platform bringing together several influential personalities, such as Jean-Pierre Bemba and Vital Kamerhe.

President Tshisekedi ardently defends his record and is convinced that he deserves a second term to continue his mission. However, he will face a divided opposition, with some opposition leaders opting out of the elections, while others, such as Moïse Katumbi and Delly Sesanga, express their willingness to run.

The question of the unity of the opposition and the designation of a common candidate therefore remains unresolved. This situation opens up interesting prospects for President Tshisekedi, who will thus be able to rely on a fragmented opposition.

Preparing for his re-election is a crucial issue for Félix Tshisekedi, who wishes to strengthen his mandate and continue the reforms initiated in the country. The holding of general elections next December will mark a new stage in Congolese democracy and will be closely followed by the international community
