Buy industrial fishing boats in the DRC
The fishing sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is about to experience a remarkable boom with the upcoming acquisition of a fleet of industrial fishing boats. The initiative, launched by the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, aims to strengthen local fish production and reduce dependence on massive imports of seafood products.
The government of the DRC, as part of its commitment to boost subsistence, industrial and sustainable agriculture, has planned the acquisition of fifteen industrial fishing boats. These boats will be spread over different sites, including the coast of the Atlantic Ocean as well as Lakes Albert and Tanganyika.
The objective of this fishing fleet is twofold: on the one hand, to increase local productivity and thus reduce the massive imports of fish on the Congolese market which currently depends mainly on artisanal fishing. On the other hand, the initiative aims to ensure food security by providing a reliable and sustainable source of local fish.
The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, recently recalled the importance of this project during a meeting of the Council of Ministers. He insisted on the need to respect the deadlines for the delivery of the boats and instructed the Ministries of Budget and Finance to ensure that the contracts concluded for the acquisition of the boats are respected.
The acquisition of this fleet of industrial fishing boats marks a significant step forward in the development of the fishing sector in the DRC. It will not only stimulate the local economy, but also promote the sustainability and preservation of the region’s fisheries resources.
The implementation of this project will be closely monitored, as it is a key element of the government’s strategy to diversify the Congolese economy and strengthen food security. The initiative will benefit not only fishermen and local communities, but also the entire Congolese population who will be able to access local and quality seafood products.
In conclusion, the acquisition of industrial fishing boats in the DRC marks an important step in the development of the fishing and livestock sector. This project will strengthen local production, reduce massive imports of fish and promote food security in the country. It is essential that the authorities ensure the proper implementation of this project in order to ensure its long-term positive impact on the Congolese economy and population
