On June 21, the Congolese opposition is organizing a new peaceful march in the city-province of Kinshasa, following their sit-in in front of the CENI headquarters, which was suppressed by the police. This march will start from district 3 (Masina), go through Lumumba Boulevard and end at the first street. The opposition leaders, namely Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Matata Ponyo and Dely Sesanga, seized the governor of the city through a correspondence to inform him of this march.
The objective of the Congolese opposition through this march is to demand the organization of free, transparent and credible elections. She protests against the current configuration of the CENI and the Constitutional Court. The secretaries general of the four political parties, ECIDÉ, Ensemble Pour La République, LGD and ENVOL also invited the urban authority to take all the necessary measures to supervise and secure this activity.
The political situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is currently very tense. The country has been plagued by political unrest for several months, and the Congolese opposition is stepping up initiatives to denounce the dysfunctions of the electoral system in place and to demand fair and democratic elections.
