“Joint military operation against the ADF rebels in the Beni region: intense combat and elimination of rebel leaders”

Intense fighting broke out this week between joint FARDC-UPDF forces and ADF rebels in the Kalyanzuki area, Beni territory. The clashes began last Monday and the toll of the fighting is not yet available, according to the army.

The fighting follows the announcement made on Sunday by the spokesman for the joint FARDC-UPDF operations, Lieutenant-Colonel Mak Hazukay, of the elimination of two ADF rebel leaders in the region. According to Lt. Col. Hazukay, these two rebel leaders were killed near the Talia River during a mixed patrol.

In addition to the neutralization of these rebel leaders, the joint forces seized six weapons of war and a significant quantity of ammunition. This operation demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese and Ugandan security forces in the fight against the armed groups operating in the region.

It is important to emphasize that the fight against the ADF rebels is a priority for the Congolese and Ugandan authorities. These armed groups are responsible for many atrocities in the region, including attacks on civilians and mass kidnappings.

Cooperation between FARDC and UPDF forces in this fight is essential to ensure the safety of local populations and restore stability in the region. However, it is also crucial to strengthen intelligence and logistics efforts to further weaken armed groups and prevent them from carrying out further attacks.

In conclusion, the fighting between the joint FARDC-UPDF forces and the ADF rebels in Kalyanzuki testifies to the continued commitment of the Congolese and Ugandan authorities in the fight against armed groups. It is essential to continue these operations and strengthen regional cooperation to end the violence and ensure the safety of the populations in the Beni region
