“Festiras 2023: La Fouine ignites the scene and denounces stereotypes about eastern DRC”

Rap and Slam Festival (Festiras): A second edition marked by an exceptional show

The second edition of the Rap and Slam Festival (Festiras) ended on Saturday July 29, 2023 in Bukavu, capital of the province of South Kivu. This festival was an opportunity for the Franco-Moroccan star La Fouine to deliver an exceptional show, leaving an indelible mark on the city.

As soon as he entered the stage, La Fouine was acclaimed by a delirious public, chanting his name. Throughout his show, he chained his classics, such as “Paname”, “Vini Vidi Vici” and “Papa”, with infectious energy. The audience, mostly made up of young people, took up each piece in chorus, creating a real communion.

During the show, La Fouine gave a nod to Fally Ipupa by broadcasting the title “SL” from the latter’s “Formule 7” album. This gesture was welcomed by the public who applauded this unexpected collaboration.

Beyond the musical performance, La Fouine also expressed its new outlook on eastern DRC. Aware of the tensions and violence in the media in this region, the artist said that his presence during the Festiras allowed him to see another reality. He encouraged young people to unity, emphasizing that they are the future of Africa and should not be manipulated by politicians.

The Festiras also hosted the MPR group, who ignited the audience with a mix of public speaking and behavior change messages for peacebuilding and living together. The poet Yekima de Bel’Art also performed during this event, offering a show that was both entertaining and engaging.

Thus, the Festiras made it possible to celebrate music and artistic expression, while highlighting another face of eastern DRC, far from negative stereotypes. This second edition will remain engraved in the memories, testifying to the cultural richness and talent of Congolese and international artists
