“Congolese artists shine and win medals at the Games of La Francophonie”

The Francophonie games currently taking place in Kinshasa are an opportunity for Congolese artists to shine. The day of August 1 was also favorable to the Congolese delegation, with the obtaining of two new medals. This brings to three the total number of medals won by the DRC in the cultural category.

In the field of literature, it was the writer Jocelyn Danga Motty who won the gold medal with his text entitled “La nuit et l’soldat”. This public reading competition brought together participants from 20 different countries, and the Congolese text stood out.

In the category of digital creation, the DRC also distinguished itself by winning the silver medal. The members of the Congolese delegation presented their creation against competition from Gabon, Morocco and Burkina Faso. If some hoped to win gold, the Minister of Culture, Catherine Kathungu, expressed her pride for this new medal.

Digital creation being a field in constant evolution and a reflection of world news, the fact that Congolese youth is invested and engaged in this discipline is a source of satisfaction for the minister. She stresses the importance of supporting local talent and promoting their engagement.

However, the competition continues and the DRC must face new challenges. The hip-hop dance competition started and Congolese artists performed alongside participants from 15 different countries. Unfortunately, the DRC did not manage to qualify for the final, but they have another chance to try to climb among the finalists.

The giant puppet competition has also been postponed, but the DRC is already guaranteed to win at least one medal in this category. The results will be announced shortly at a medal ceremony.

Other competitions and exhibitions are planned in the coming days, particularly in the fields of creative dance, song, painting, photography and sculpture. Congolese artists continue to proudly represent their country and showcase their talent and creativity.

Beyond the sporting and cultural competition, the Games of the Francophonie are also an opportunity to bring together French-speaking youth around common values and to promote exchanges between the different participating countries. The DRC have already won 14 medals, including 3 gold, and hope to continue to shine throughout the event.

In conclusion, the Congolese artists engaged in the games of the Francophonie stand out and collect medals. Their creativity, their talent and their commitment are welcomed and supported by the Minister of Culture. Competitions and exhibitions continue, providing new opportunities to showcase Congolese art and culture. The Francophonie Games are an international event that celebrates the diversity and richness of the Francophonie, while promoting exchanges and sharing between the different participating countries
