“The displaced persons of the Lala site in Ituri: living in precarious conditions, an urgent situation which requires immediate intervention”

The displaced people of the Lala site, in the territory of Djugu in Ituri, are still living in precarious conditions, more than a month after the attack by the CODECO militia. According to local sources, the survivors of this attack lack everything, especially food, which exposes them to many diseases.

The Lala IDP site has more than 7,850 people living in 1,840 small houses built of earth and covered with straw. Despite this organization, living conditions remain difficult, with narrow roads and some displaced people who are forced to spend their nights under the stars.

The lack of food support is one of the major problems facing these displaced people. Sanitary facilities are also insufficient, which poses a health risk to people living on the site. Parents are particularly worried about the future of their children, who are malnourished and many have become orphans following the massacre.

Faced with this situation, representatives of the Bule IDP sites and community leaders are calling on the authorities to intervene and seek help from humanitarian organizations. They also want increased security in their home villages, so that they can return to their agricultural activities.

It is essential that concrete measures be taken to improve the situation of the displaced persons at the Lala site. The urgency is to provide them with food, medical care and adequate health infrastructure. Security in the region must also be strengthened to allow the displaced to return home in safer conditions.

This delicate situation highlights the importance of humanitarian aid and the intervention of the authorities to provide support to the displaced people and help them to rebuild their lives. It is crucial that the situation of displaced people in Ituri be taken into account and that concrete measures be put in place to improve their situation.

It is time to act and come to the aid of these displaced people who have already suffered so much. By working together, we can help offer them a better future and support them in their reconstruction process
