“Impending Erosion at Kenge (Kwango): An Urgent Threat to National Road No. 1”

Erosion threatens National Road No. 1 in Kenge (Kwango): an urgent problem to be solved

For the past few days, a worrying situation has been looming in Kenge (Kwango), where an erosion head is threatening to cut National Road No. 1 in two. This ravine is located on a mountain, near a curvature at the exit of the capital of the province of Kwango. Just three meters from the roadway, this erosion poses a serious threat to the main road linking the provinces of Kwilu, Kwango and Kinshasa.

Local authorities are concerned about this situation and are calling for urgent intervention by the central government. Indeed, if nothing is done, the suspension of traffic between these different provinces could have significant consequences on the movement of people and goods.

According to the mayor of the city of Kenge, Noël Kuketuka, this erosion was caused by the heavy rains of May 2. It formed on a steep mountain, making the place less frequented by pedestrians. However, vibrations from vehicles that regularly pass on the road could aggravate the situation and cause part of the roadway to subside.

Reports have been made for the rehabilitation of this stretch of road, but so far no concrete action has been taken. The mayor of Kenge appealed to the Roads Office and is still awaiting a response. He insists that the road is in serious danger and that rapid intervention is necessary to avoid a cut which would disrupt traffic and impact the economy of the region.

Faced with this situation, it is essential that the central government take urgent measures to secure the National Road No. 1 in Kenge. The safety of road users must be a top priority, and repair or consolidation work on the banks must be undertaken quickly. It is also important to put in place long-term preventive measures to prevent such situations from recurring in the future.

In conclusion, the threat of erosion hanging over National Road No. 1 at Kenge is an urgent problem that requires prompt and effective intervention. The suspension of traffic between the provinces of Kwilu, Kwango and Kinshasa would be detrimental to the regional economy. It is therefore essential that the authorities take the necessary measures to preserve the safety of road users and ensure the continuity of trade between the different provinces
