Youth recovery plan in the DRC: What solutions for the future?

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Kinshasa, a long-awaited presentation was held, that of the youth recovery plan in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Developed by Hervé Tansia Wa Ntumba, leader and youth coach, this plan aims to enable Congolese youth to align themselves with the vision of the Head of State Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and thus contribute to the execution of his program with a visible impact on the population. Entitled “Operation Desert Storm”, this plan is based on seven key axes which constitute the main challenges facing Congolese youth.

The first axis, “Agriculture and Rurality”, highlights the importance of developing the agricultural sector and promoting rural development to offer economic opportunities to young people and fight against rural exodus.

The second axis, “Juvenile delinquency and depravity of morals”, emphasizes the need to fight against juvenile delinquency and deviant behaviors that hinder societal development.

The third axis, “Youth, population and development”, aims to promote controlled demographic growth and to develop the potential of young people to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

The fourth axis, “Youth, culture and new citizenship”, highlights the importance of promoting Congolese culture and training young people to become responsible and committed citizens.

The fifth axis, “Youth and gender”, aims to fight against gender inequalities and promote the empowerment of young girls and women.

The sixth axis, “Youth, partnership for development”, underlines the importance of creating partnerships between young people, institutions and development actors to strengthen actions in favor of young people.

Finally, the seventh axis, “Youth and strengthening of institutional and technical capacities”, emphasizes the need to strengthen the capacities of institutions and structures in charge of youth to better take into account the needs and expectations of young people.

This youth recovery plan aims to strengthen institutional, technical and operational capacities to implement concrete actions in favor of Congolese youth. Hervé Tansia, convinced of the effectiveness of this plan, affirms that its implementation will make it possible to transform the Democratic Republic of Congo into a better country than before.

It is important to emphasize that Hervé Tansia has extensive experience in the field of youth, having been a former collaborator of Madame Chantal Mulop, adviser to the Head of State on youth, gender and human trafficking, as well as adviser to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Yves Bunkulu Zola.

In conclusion, this youth recovery plan in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a promising initiative to respond to the challenges faced by Congolese youth. By implementing concrete actions and strengthening the capacities of the institutions in charge of youth, this plan offers real prospects for improvement and development for the future of the country. It only remains to hope that its implementation is carried out effectively and that it bears fruit for the benefit of all Congolese youth
