New vehicles made in Congo: a new era for the automotive sector in the DRC
The Congolese government recently adopted a new vision aimed at renewing automobile cartage in all transport sectors in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This vision, which aims to introduce new vehicles in the city of Kinshasa, was presented during a visit by the Minister of Transport to Kin Motors.
The objective is to set up assembly plants for “Kin” brand vehicles made in Congo, as well as electric vehicles. This initiative is part of the government’s desire to limit dependence on imported vehicles and strengthen the local automotive industry.
The price of vehicles made in Congo, zero kilometer, is estimated at less than 10,000 US dollars. This policy aims to make vehicles more accessible to the Congolese population, while promoting the local economy. By limiting the import of vehicles, the objective is also to keep the country’s currencies in place and reinvest them in other priority sectors.
This initiative is part of President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision of reviving the DRC on the international scene and revitalizing Congolese industry. By encouraging the local production of vehicles and creating jobs in the automotive sector, the government wishes to revitalize the economy and strengthen the country’s autonomy.
Kin Motors plays a key role in bringing this vision to life. It is also planning further assembly plant facilities in the pilot Maluku Special Economic Zone. This development of the automobile industry in the DRC will not only lead to the creation of wealth and jobs, but will also contribute to modernizing the country’s automobile fleet.
In short, the initiative to produce new vehicles made in Congo marks a new era for the automotive sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By renewing automobile cartage with local vehicles, the government hopes to stimulate the economy, create jobs and strengthen the country’s economic autonomy
