Exhibition of ethnic arts from the DRC during the Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa
The Boboto Cultural Center and the Antika Gallery recently collaborated to organize an exhibition of ethnic arts from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on the sidelines of the IX Games of La Francophonie, which are currently taking place in Kinshasa. From July 28 to August 9, visitors were able to discover a wide range of works of art, ranging from canvas paintings to sculptures and paintings.
The themes addressed by these works are varied and committed. Among them, the fight against rape, the importance of the Francophonie and the actors in the political history of the country. This exhibition is above all an opportunity for young Congolese artists to make their talent and creativity known to the rest of the world. By exhibiting the ethnic art of their country, they also show that they are reclaiming this artistic tradition and merging it with contemporary messages.
Aimé-Lucien Mbungu, coordinator of the Antika Gallery, strongly encourages Congolese to support local artists by buying their creations. This would allow young artists to make a living from their profession and continue to contribute to the cultural wealth of the DRC.
This exhibition is a great opportunity to highlight the talent and creativity of Congolese artists and to show the world the immense artistic potential of the DRC. Hopefully more such opportunities will be offered in the future to continue promoting and supporting the Congolese art scene.
