Art has always been a privileged means of expression for Congolese artists. This is why the Boboto Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Antika Gallery, is organizing an exhibition of ethnic arts from the DRC in Kinshasa.
From July 28 to August 9, visitors will have the opportunity to discover a variety of works, ranging from canvas paintings to sculptures and paintings. Each creation conveys rich and diverse themes, from the fight against rape to the importance of La Francophonie, including the actors in the country’s political history.
The objective of this exhibition is to give visibility to young Congolese artists and to highlight their artistic know-how. The Boboto Cultural Center thus wishes to show the whole world that Congolese artists have been able to appropriate the ethnic art of their country.
Aimé-Lucien Mbungu, the coordinator of the Antika Gallery, strongly encourages Congolese to support national artistic production by buying the creations of local artists. This would allow young artists to make a living from their profession and continue to enrich the Congolese artistic scene.
This exhibition, which is held on the sidelines of the 9th Games of La Francophonie, is a unique opportunity to discover and appreciate the talent of Congolese artists. We hope that other similar events will be organized in the future to highlight the creativity and know-how of artists from the DRC.
In conclusion, the DRC Ethnic Arts Exhibition in Kinshasa is a commendable initiative that showcases the talent of young Congolese artists. It is also an opportunity for the public to discover an art rich in symbolism and cultural diversity
