Title: The Kingdom of the Netherlands supports the fight against gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Introduction :
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will benefit from financial support of USD 13 million from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthen the fight against gender-based violence. This financial support will be allocated to the second phase of the “Gender Stability and Community Guarantee” (S3G2) project, implemented by CORDAID in the provinces of North and South Kivu. By launching this project, the provincial Minister of Health underlined the importance of a multi-sector response to combat this violence.

One-stop centers for the fight against gender-based violence:
Under the S3G2 project, one-stop centers will be established in general referral hospitals or referral health centers. These centers will bring together the four pillars of care for victims of gender-based sexual violence: medical care, psycho-social care, legal or judicial care, as well as socio-economic reintegration. This model will provide comprehensive support to victims and facilitate their access to necessary services.

Health systems strengthening:
The S3G2 project also aims to build the capacity of health providers with regard to the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young people. The aim is to improve access to quality services, to inform and educate young people on issues related to sexual health, while strengthening the skills of health professionals in this area. A holistic approach will be adopted to meet the specific needs of young people and promote their overall well-being.

Conclusion :
The financial support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the S3G2 project marks a significant step forward in the fight against gender-based violence in the DRC. By establishing one-stop centers and strengthening health systems, this project will help provide comprehensive care for victims, while promoting sexual health awareness and education
