Social networks were recently invaded by a viral video showing a magistrate being assaulted in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This video sparked a wave of indignation within the judicial community. The facts date back about a week and show an individual angry with judicial police officers, whom he accuses of having beaten him to the point of tearing his jacket, which he shows in the video.
According to judicial sources, the individual in question is Ndonda, a judge at the prosecutor’s office at the tribunal de grande instance/Kikwit and employed as legal adviser to the company IREC. It all started during the execution of an arrest warrant issued against YAMBILI MBAY Jean Daddy, boss of this company, when Ndonda intervened between the judicial police officers and presented his professional card as proof of his status. of legal counsel.
He then began calling the agents forgers and questioning the veracity of their warrant. He finally sequestered one of the judicial police officers with the help of a police officer placed in guard with his employer. Ndonda was arrested and taken to the judicial brigade, where he eventually presented himself as a magistrate assigned to the High Court/Kikwit.
The competent authorities must take measures to bring order to the judicial sector in the DRC. Some voices are raised to justify this accumulation in order to improve the working and living conditions of magistrates across the country. This case gives food for thought and must challenge the leaders to act to prevent it from happening again.
In short, security remains a major issue in the DRC. Political tensions, violence and lack of security are just some of the obstacles that stand in the way of peace and prosperity in this country.
