Haut Katanga, in the city of Kasumbalesa, is facing a wave of rape of minors which shocks public opinion. In one week, several cases were recorded, including that of a two-year-old child who was anally raped by a young minor. Similarly, a newly married woman arriving in the city was assaulted by soldiers, who stole her phone and a large sum of money.
Fifi Mwowaba Kabobo, the deputy mayor, expressed her indignation at this recurring situation and announced that the victims are taken care of by the town hall. It calls for military justice to severely punish these aggressors.
These events are all the more worrying as they affect particularly vulnerable women and children. It is important that measures are taken to ensure that such violence does not happen again.
