Édouard Mwangachuchu trial: new exhibits presented before the High Military Court of Kinshasa

Title: High Military Court of Kinshasa: continuation of the trial of deputy Édouard Mwangachuchu

The High Military Court of Kinshasa continues the investigation of the trial of deputy Édouard Mwangachuchu. Several pieces of the evidence file found during the search of the residences of the elected official of Rutshuru were presented during the last hearing which was held on Tuesday, May 30 at the military prison of Ndolo.

The defendant recognized only three documents in the file, among which the documents of a plot belonging to his son Christian Mwangachuchu in Kigali. On the other hand, he qualified as “false” the other documents attesting to his belonging to the Rwandan diaspora in Kinshasa as well as his role in the protection of the interests of Rwanda.

The debate between the Mwangachuchu party and the public prosecutor was heated and the High Military Court postponed the trial to June 2nd.

It should be recalled that MP Édouard Mwangachuchu has been appearing before this court since March 3 for participation in an insurrectionary movement, illegal possession of weapons and munitions of war, as well as for incitement to commit acts contrary to the duty of the military.

This case should be followed closely for the legal advances it could generate and for the possible political implications it could have in the DRC.
