The FARDC arrest an environmental agent suspected of collaborating with the ADF/MTM in North Kivu: one more step towards ending the terrorist threat.

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) announced on Wednesday May 24 that they had arrested Doré Mayani, a state agent assigned to the environment department in the rural commune of Kyondo in North Kivu. According to information shared by Captain Anthony Mwalushayi, spokesperson for the Sukola1 Grand-Nord operational sector, Mayani is a collaborator of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF)/MTM, with very long-standing links with one of the commanders of ‘ADF, Amigo Kibirigi.

This arrest, which is part of the ongoing operations to dismantle the networks of ADF collaborators, is a new step towards ending this terrorist threat in the Beni region, which brings mourning to the region on a daily basis. . The FARDC thus reaffirmed their determination to put an end to this scourge once and for all.

Although this is yet another arrest since the launch of ADF neutralization operations almost 10 years ago, this action demonstrates that the Congolese government takes the safety of its citizens very seriously and continues relentlessly the terrorists and their supporters.

It is important to emphasize that the security situation in North Kivu remains very worrying with a series of assassinations, attacks by armed groups and the spread of the Ebola virus in the Katwa health zone. In addition, political and social tensions remain, which more than ever requires a holistic approach to solving the various problems in the DRC.
