The community of Djoru disputes the figures of the Independent National Electoral Commission and threatens its representativeness in the National Assembly.

The community of Djoru in the territory of Tshuapa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, denounced an incompatibility between the number of registered voters and the number of those appearing on the official electoral register, published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in Kinshasa. The community spokesperson claimed that there was a decrease of more than 35,000 enlisted compared to the CENI antenna figures. According to him, the difference in figures underlines that the data transmitted to the electoral center were not taken into account, thus threatening the representativeness of Djoru in the National Assembly.

These allegations come at a decisive time when the Congolese government must submit the draft distribution of seats to Parliament. The number of seats allocated to each territory in the National Assembly closely depends on the number of registered voters and their representativeness. For the community of Djoru, if the CENI maintains its figures, their territory would lose a seat in the national deputation.

The Congolese government must therefore correct this material error before the draft law on the distribution of seats is sent to parliament. The representativeness of Djoru in the National Assembly, as a territory that has adhered to the vision of Head of State Tshisekedi, is a crucial issue for the community of Djoru, which disputes the number of enlisted persons published by the Independent National Electoral Commission
