The town of Kasumbalesa in the province of Haut-Katanga has been in shock for some time, due to numerous cases of rape reported among minors. These latest wrongdoings have seen increasingly repeat cases in the space of a week.
The latest is particularly shocking, it is a 2-year-old child anally raped by a young minor from Kasumbalesa. The competent authorities took charge of the victim.
A new case of rape took place a few days ago, that of a newly married woman, who came from Kasai Oriental to join her husband in Kasumbalesa, was raped by soldiers who, in addition to that, robbed her an android phone and the sum of 800,000 FC.
Revolted by these heinous acts, the deputy mayor of Kasumbalesa, Fifi Mwitaba Kabobo denounced this situation and firmly promised to take charge of all the cases reported and to ensure that the culprits are severely punished by justice. She wants the authority of the state to be heard and the executioners to be exemplarily punished.
The city of Kasumbalesa is particularly shaken by this series of sexual violence. The competent authorities are called upon to prevent such acts and to effectively protect the populations of the city.
It is important that justice be firm on these cases so that such violence does not happen again in the future.
