The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is currently in full preparation for its national elections which should be held on December 20, 2023. The electoral process is entering a new phase after the presentation of the conclusions of the external audit of the electoral register which declared reliable. This announcement was made during a meeting between the Prime Minister of the DRC, Sama Lukonde and the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis Kadima Kazadi.
During this meeting, Denis Kadima discussed the next steps in the electoral process leading to the 2023 elections, in accordance with the electoral calendar made public by the CENI on November 26, 2022. He also expressed the government’s support for provision of the CENI with the funds necessary for the concretization of the chronogram of the electoral process.
Time is running out, because the CENI has announced for June 25, 2023 the convocation of the electorate to the national deputation. Candidates must therefore already prepare the components of their files to be ready in time. This announcement is also a strong signal for other stakeholders in the electoral process who must be ready to respond quickly to all CENI requirements.
It is important to emphasize that the electoral process in the DRC is a crucial issue for the political stability of the country. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders cooperate and respect its results to avoid a new political crisis.
