The National Service of the DRC is inspired by the Tanzanian model to strengthen its training

The Commander of the national service in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), General-Major Jean-Pierre Kasongo Kabwik, recently visited Tanzania in order to learn from the model of national service implemented in this country. Indeed, the general visited the Ruvu center located 60 km from Dar-es-Salam, which has existed for more than 60 years and which trains young Tanzanians for a period of 3 months.

In this center, young graduates of the baccalaureate (equivalent to the state diploma in the DRC) are enrolled on a compulsory basis to undergo training for national service. This training includes not only military aspects, but also training in entrepreneurship to help them create jobs and contribute to the development of the country, especially in the agriculture and livestock sector.

General Kasongo Kabwik said that the DRC could pick up and apply some of the good initiatives put in place by the Tanzanian national service. According to him, this would contribute to the peace and security of the country by instilling patriotic values and training young people to be engaged and responsible citizens.

The general’s visit to Tanzania and his interest in the Tanzanian model testify to the desire of the DRC national service to improve its training and adapt to the needs and realities of the country. By taking the example of countries that have already put in place effective programs, the DRC seeks to strengthen its own training and prepare young people to play an active role in society.

It is important to note that the Tanzanian national service is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. He is considered one of the best models of national service in Africa, and the visit of General Kasongo Kabwik shows that the DRC is ready to learn from best practices to improve its own national service.

In conclusion, the National Service of the DRC seeks to draw inspiration from the Tanzanian model to strengthen its training and prepare young people to be responsible and committed citizens. By following the example of Tanzania, the DRC hopes to improve its national service and contribute to building a more stable and prosperous country
