The Route de la Passion: A symbol of development for the DRC
Within the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the construction project of the Route de la “Passion” is arousing great interest. Planned to connect the city of Nkamba to the National Road N°1, near the town of Mbanza-Ngungu in the province of Kongo Central, this road infrastructure is vital for the socio-economic development of the region.
The Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, underlined the importance of this road during the 105th meeting of the Council of Ministers. He recalled that this road axis is closely linked to the city of Nkamba and also symbolizes the heritage of the prophet Simon Kimbangu. From the suffering endured by the Prophet during his arrest in Nkamba by the colonial power in 1921, to his transfer to Mbanza-Ngungu where he was condemned on foot, this road is steeped in history and constitutes a cultural heritage to be preserved.
Aware of the strategic importance of this project, Félix Tshisekedi gave clear instructions to the Minister of State, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro, in order to bring together all the actors concerned and put in place the necessary means to concretize this route of “Passion”. A call for diligence has been launched so that work can begin at the beginning of May.
This road infrastructure is of great importance for the populations of Nkamba and the surrounding regions. It will facilitate trade, promote local economic development and stimulate tourism in the region. Indeed, the Passion Route will attract pilgrims and visitors interested in the historical and spiritual heritage linked to the prophet Simon Kimbangu.
Apart from the economic and tourist benefits, this road will also play a crucial role in improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the region. It will facilitate access to basic social services such as schools, health centers and public infrastructure, thus contributing to improving the well-being of the local population.
In conclusion, the construction of the Route de la Passion in the DRC is a project of great strategic, economic and cultural importance. This road axis will make it possible to revitalize the socio-economic development of the region, to preserve the historical heritage of the country and to improve the living conditions of the local populations. With the commitment and determination of the government, the realization of this project promises a promising future for the DRC
