History of the Francophonie Games:
The Francophonie Games are a quadrennial competition that brings together talented young French-speaking artists and athletes. Since their creation in 1989, the Games have been organized in French-speaking cities such as Paris, Antananarivo, Ottawa, Niamey and Beirut. Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, hosted the last edition in 2017. The DRC obtained the organization of the IX Games of La Francophonie during the 108th session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie in 2019.
Postponement due to the pandemic:
Initially scheduled for 2021, the Games of La Francophonie have been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After several postponements, the event will finally be held from July 28 to August 6, 2023, thus allowing young French-speaking talents to meet and share their passion in different artistic and sporting fields.
