Idris Mbombo: The Congolese striker who shines in Tanzania with Azam FC

27-year-old Congolese player Idris Mbombo is making a name for himself in the world of football as a star striker for Azam FC, one of the biggest clubs in the NBC Premier League in Tanzania. After proving himself in Zambia and Egypt, Mbombo has chosen to settle down in Tanzania and extend his contract with Azam for another season.

Mbombo’s decision to stay in Tanzania is driven by her desire to explore new experiences in this country. He underlines the warm reception of the Tanzanian fans, who, although different from the Congolese fans, give him passionate support.

Over the past two seasons, Mbombo has scored 17 goals with Azam FC. Despite the Cup final loss to Yanga this season, he is determined to do better and win more titles with his team. His personal goal is to become the top scorer in the Tanzanian league.

While some Congolese clubs, such as Mazembe, Vita or Lupopo, are interested in his services, Mbombo said that at the moment he has no plans to return to the DRC. He wants the Linafoot (Congolese championship) to be played regularly and in good conditions, with the support of sponsors so that Congolese football can progress.

Mbombo also points out that many Congolese players choose to go to Tanzania because of the more serious organization of the championship in this country. He believes that Linafoot needs improvements to attract more talented players.

As for the Congolese national team, Mbombo says playing for the Leopards is every Congolese player’s dream, whether playing for Linafoot or abroad. If called up by new coach Sébastien Desabre, he will be ready to represent his country.

Mbombo expresses his confidence in the Leopards’ chances of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN), highlighting the seriousness Desabre brings to the national team.

In conclusion, Idris Mbombo is a talented striker who is causing a stir in Tanzania with Azam FC. His choice to stay in Tanzania to continue his experience is a testament to the competitiveness of the Tanzanian league and the passionate support from the fans. Although he keeps an eye on the Congolese national team, his current focus is on his club and personal goals. His determination and ambition should allow him to continue to shine in the world of football
