“ACAJ strongly condemns the obscene videos disseminated by the security services in the DRC and calls for a credible investigation”

The obscene videos broadcast by some members of the security services in the Democratic Republic of Congo have drawn strong condemnation from the Congolese Association for Access to Justice (ACAJ). This association seized the General Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation to request the opening of a credible investigation into these human rights violations.

ACAJ expresses its deep concern at the impunity enjoyed by these agents of the Congolese National Police (PNC) and the National Intelligence Agency (ANR) who deliberately and repeatedly violate the Ordinance on the Digital Code. These acts go against their obligation to protect people and their property.

In a letter addressed to the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Maître Georges Kapiamba, president of the ACAJ, highlights the need for an investigation carried out by neutral and impartial bodies, in order to guarantee the credibility and transparency of the investigation.

He also urges the Attorney General to take all necessary measures to discourage these abuses of power, which tarnish the reputation of the Head of State and compromise the efforts to moralize and professionalize the security services.

This condemnation of the ACAJ highlights a serious problem of violation of human rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is essential that measures be taken to put an end to these acts and punish those responsible. The protection of the fundamental rights of each individual is an essential pillar of a democratic society that respects human dignity. Prosecuting the perpetrators of these reprehensible acts is a crucial step in preserving the integrity and public confidence in the security forces.

It is therefore imperative that the investigation be conducted in a rigorous and impartial manner, so that justice is done and that such acts do not happen again in the future
