The establishment of the FECOFA Electoral Commission: A new start for Congolese football

Title: The establishment of the FECOFA electoral commission: a step towards a new era of Congolese football

Introduction :

On July 22, 2023, during the extraordinary and elective general assembly of the Congolese Federation of Football Association (FECOFA), the electoral commission was officially set up. Under the leadership of Donat Liyoke, this commission marks a crucial step towards the holding of elections for the formation of a new committee at FECOFA. In this article, we will take a look at this key event in Congolese football news.

A new leadership for FECOFA:

During the general assembly, Donat Liyoke was elected president of the electoral commission with 37 votes out of 60 voters. Benjamin Makutu, meanwhile, was elected vice-president with 28 votes. These appointments testify to the confidence placed in the new leaders to guide FECOFA towards a new era of transparency and development.

The other elected members, such as Michie Emeka Makutu, Elubert Huarakiero and Espérance Mayuma, also bring their expertise and commitment to the electoral commission. Together they will ensure a fair and representative electoral process within FECOFA.

Challenges to overcome:

The establishment of this electoral commission comes at a crucial time for Congolese football. Indeed, recently, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) license was withdrawn from the DCMP team, causing outrage among supporters. It is therefore up to the electoral commission to find solutions and restore confidence in the administration of football in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The role of the standardization committee:

This electoral process is carried out in coordination with the normalization committee, set up last April by FIFA. This committee ensures a democratic and transparent process during elections within FECOFA. With the establishment of the electoral commission, the normalization committee takes an important step in its mission to reform and restructure Congolese football.

Conclusion :

The establishment of the electoral commission at FECOFA marks a turning point in the history of Congolese football. The new leaders will be responsible for conducting transparent and representative elections, while working to meet the current challenges of football in the Democratic Republic of Congo
