Just ten days before the start of the 9th Francophonie Games, a delegation made up of the Minister of Communication, Patrick Muyaya, the Minister of Sports François Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, and other government figures made an inspection visit to the sites concerned. The purpose of this visit was to ensure that the infrastructure is ready and that everything is in order to host this international competition.
The first stage of the visit took place at the Martyrs sports stadium, where all the necessary facilities are already in place. Then, the delegation went to the Tata Raphaël stadium, where the laying of the synthetic turf is finished and where the Judo and freestyle room is ready to welcome the athletes. Only the tennis court still requires some finishing. The prefabricated buildings planned for accommodation will not be operational before the start of the games, but the catering room, the dispensary and the accreditation room are already functional.
Finally, the visit ended at the UNIKIN, where everything is ready to welcome the athletes in the best possible conditions. The accommodations are ready, the water is flowing, the Wi-Fi connection is working perfectly and the chefs are hard at work preparing quality meals for the athletes.
During a press conference, the government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya, underlined the importance of these Francophonie games for the Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite the delays encountered at certain sites, in particular due to specific requests from international federations, the country succeeded in the challenge of setting up modern infrastructures in a very short time. Muyaya also recalled the importance of this event for the development of sport in the DRC, which will be able to benefit from the new sports facilities after the end of the games.
With only a few days left before kick-off, preparations for the games of la francophonie in Kinshasa continue to move forward despite the obstacles. The Congolese government is determined to make the country shine during this 9th edition and to provide a memorable experience for athletes and visitors
