On Friday July 21, 2023, the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo succeeded in neutralizing two Mai-Mai militiamen during a clash in Mighobwe, a village located near the rural commune of Kirumba, in the territory of Lubero, North Kivu.

Captain Anthony Mwalushayi, spokesperson for the Sukola 1 Grand-Nord operational sector, relayed the information during a press conference. According to him, in addition to the neutralized militiamen, two others were captured and six AK-47 type weapons were recovered by the military.

These clashes caused panic among the local population and paralyzed activities in the region. This operation led by the Congolese army demonstrates its determination to fight against the armed groups that disturb the security and stability of the region.

The neutralization of these Mai-Mai militiamen is an important step in the efforts of the Congolese authorities to restore peace and security in the areas affected by the violence. However, it is essential to continue working on securing and stabilizing the region in order to prevent further attacks and guarantee the safety of the inhabitants.

In a region where armed groups are numerous and active, it is crucial to support the actions of the Congolese army by strengthening security arrangements and providing adequate logistical and material support. International cooperation is also essential to help the DRC deal with this complex situation and seek lasting solutions.

In conclusion, the neutralization of these Mai-Mai militiamen in Mighobwe is a positive step forward in the fight against armed groups in the DRC. However, much remains to be done to ensure peace and security in the region. Political will, capacity building of the Congolese army and support from the international community are all crucial factors in achieving a lasting restoration of stability in the country
