“Economic recovery in Mongwalu: the return of traders and improved security revitalize the commune”

Economic activities have been gradually resuming in Mongwalu, in Ituri province, since last June. This rural town is experiencing a revival of activity, with the reopening of several shops and the return of economic operators.

According to the mayor of the commune, Jean-Pierre Bikilisende, this improvement is the result of a better security situation in the region. Many traders who had fled Mongwalu due to insecurity, particularly to Bunia and North Kivu province, are beginning to return. Economic activities are resuming day after day, with the reopening of shops that were closed.

One of the reasons for this economic recovery is also the reopening of the Bunia-Mongwalu road, which facilitates trade and traffic between the different localities. For almost ten years, Mongwalu was landlocked, but now, thanks to the reopening of this road, the situation is improving.

In addition, security has improved in recent months, with fewer major incidents and fewer militia attacks in the region. The inhabitants of the villages of Mongwalu now have access to basic necessities, thanks to this growing security.

The mayor insists on the need to promote pacification and peaceful cohabitation, by encouraging the inhabitants to turn to the State in the event of a problem rather than seeking to settle scores. This calmer atmosphere is contributing to the gradual resumption of economic activities.

The situation in Mongwalu is encouraging and offers new prospects for the economic development of the region. With improving security and the return of traders, the municipality is gradually returning to a normal economic situation.

This resumption of economic activities in Mongwalu shows that despite past difficulties, the resilience and determination of the inhabitants make it possible to rebuild and revive the local economy. This is a positive sign for the entire Ituri region, which hopes to regain stability and sustainable development
