A major digitization project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is being prepared, supported by the central government and the World Bank. A meeting between the Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi Kankonde, and a World Bank delegation led by Mathias Cinyabuguma, Acting Director of Operations, was held in Kinshasa to discuss the progress of the project.

This project, valued at more than 400 million US dollars, aims to promote the digital transformation of the country. During the meeting, the government’s priorities in terms of identification and civil status were discussed. Mathias Cinyabuguma welcomed the exchanges with the Minister of the Interior and underlined the importance of the orientations given to accelerate the finalization of the project. He notably raised the issue of patents, identification certificates and civil status.

Interior Minister Péter Kazadi Kankonde asked the World Bank delegation to work with state technical teams to establish government priorities. This digitization initiative aims to modernize public services and improve administrative efficiency in the DRC.

The implementation of a digital system for identification and civil status will simplify administrative procedures, strengthen data security and ensure better traceability of citizens. This will also help fight fraud and facilitate access to public services for all Congolese.

This digitization project represents a major opportunity for the DRC to position itself as a technological leader in Africa. By collaborating with the World Bank, the Congolese government is showing its willingness to modernize infrastructure and promote innovation in the country.

Digital transformation is a crucial issue for the economic and social development of the DRC. By facilitating access to public services and improving administrative efficiency, this project will help create jobs, reduce corruption and improve the quality of life of Congolese.

The implementation of this project will require close coordination between the various actors, both at the level of the government and the World Bank. It will be essential to put in place monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness and positive impact of this digitization initiative.

In conclusion, the digitization project in the DRC supported by the World Bank represents a major opportunity to modernize infrastructure and promote innovation in the country. This initiative will help facilitate access to public services, strengthen data security and improve administrative efficiency. Digital transformation is an essential lever for the economic and social development of the DRC, and this project marks an important step towards this objective
