Teachers in the Democratic Republic of Congo are asking for the suspension of the 10,000 FC (Congolese Francs) deduction from their salaries and the restitution of the loss of earnings recorded since last April. This claim was made during the general assembly of the Synergy of DRC teachers’ unions held recently in Kinshasa.
During this assembly, the teachers also called on the government to pay the new salary scale in order to ensure a peaceful return to school. They believe that this new scale will allow them to meet the current cost of living. They also called for the payment of a uniform salary and bonus for all primary school teachers.
Jean-Bosco Puna, spokesperson for the Synergy of Teachers’ Unions, reminded the Congolese State to respect its commitments to guarantee a serene 2023-2024 school year.
The request from teachers in the DRC highlights the challenges they face in their daily work. Salary and working conditions issues are major concerns for many teachers. It is essential that the government respond to these legitimate demands in order to guarantee the quality of education in the DRC.
The work of teachers is crucial for the future of the country. They play an essential role in the training of future generations and deserve to be supported and valued. It is therefore imperative to find sustainable solutions to meet their needs and improve their working conditions.
In conclusion, the DRC teachers’ request is an important reminder of the importance of recognizing and supporting education professionals. It is essential that the government respond to their demands in order to ensure quality education for all children in the DRC.
