“Imminent closure of the submission of candidacies for the election of national deputies in the DRC: The future representatives of the people are preparing to take the last step towards political legitimacy”

The filing of candidacies for the election of national deputies in the Democratic Republic of Congo is coming to an end. The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) reminds independent candidates, political parties and political groups that it will close the filing of files this Sunday, July 23.

It is essential that all candidates respect the time limit and submit their applications to the BRTCs across the national territory. The rest of the operational timetable provides for a period for adding, removing or replacing files from July 24 to 28, 2023.

On August 9, 2023, the CENI will publish the provisional lists of candidates for national deputies, followed by the filing and processing of appeals challenging the lists of candidates from August 10 to 26, 2023. Finally, the final lists of candidates will be published on September 10, 2023 by the CENI.

This crucial step marks the political future of the country. The candidates therefore have a deadline to respect in order to be able to participate in the election of national deputies. It is important that this process takes place in a transparent and fair manner in order to guarantee the legitimacy of the future parliament
