Shocking assassination of the former Congolese Minister of Transport: political tensions and demands for justice inflame the country

Assassination of the former Congolese Minister of Transport: tensions between the government and the opposition

More than a week after the assassination of the former Congolese Minister of Transport and spokesperson for the Together for the Republic party, Chérubin Okende Senga, tensions continue to rise between the government and the opposition. Both sides blame each other for this heinous crime.

In a statement published recently, the party Ensemble pour la République, led by opponent Moïse Katumbi Chapwe, strongly criticized some members of the government, in particular the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi Kadima, for their controversial remarks. The party denounces statements suggesting similarities between this assassination and that of former President Laurent Désiré Kabila in 2001.

The statement highlights the disturbing parallels between these two cases, including the invitation of the victims to public institutions, their disappearance followed by the discovery of their bodies in vehicles, as well as the questionable manipulations surrounding these cases. Together for the Republic accuses the government of trying to manipulate public opinion by trying to cover up the perpetrators of this crime.

The party also deplores the intervention of the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Firmin Mvonde Mambu, who allegedly disclosed biased information on the case. Together for the Republic denounces a violation of the principle of the secrecy of the instruction and calls for a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the truth and bring those responsible to justice.

This case raises many questions and raises concerns about the state of security in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The relatives of Chérubin Okende Senga demand the manifestation of the truth and call for justice to be done. They also call for avoiding any attempt to manipulate the investigation, fearing that it will benefit the real perpetrators of this assassination to the detriment of the innocent.

Pending the results of the autopsy, which should determine the exact causes of the death of Chérubin Okende Senga, public opinion remains in suspense, hoping that the truth will come out and that those responsible for this barbaric act will be identified and judged according to the laws of the Republic
