Launch of the “News” section: Mobilization of Martin Fayulu for credible elections in the DRC
In a tense political context in the Democratic Republic of Congo, political opponent Martin Fayulu and his supporters are preparing for a peaceful march in Kinshasa, the country’s capital. This demonstration scheduled for July 29 aims to demand “credible, free, transparent, impartial, peaceful and inclusive” elections.
The Commitment for Citizenship and Development (ECiDé), a political party led by Martin Fayulu, also requests an audit of the electoral register by an independent international body, in order to ensure the integrity and inclusiveness of the data collected. According to the leader of ECiDé, the external audit of the electoral register is essential to guarantee the confidence of all the stakeholders and to avoid any form of electoral fraud.
Martin Fayulu accuses President Denis Kadima, the plenary assembly of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and the regime in place of wanting to set up a new electoral fraud. He affirms that his party will not submit its candidacy files as long as there is no audit of the electoral register in accordance with international standards.
This mobilization of Martin Fayulu and his supporters underlines the crucial issues related to the elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo and their impact on the stability of the country. The demand for a transparent and fair electoral process is a concern shared by many political actors and Congolese citizens.
It will be interesting to follow the evolution of this mobilization and to see to what extent Martin Fayulu’s demands will be taken into account by the competent authorities. In the meantime, the question of the credibility of the elections in the DRC remains at the heart of the concerns and continues to generate passionate debates
