The 9th Games of La Francophonie are fast approaching, and preparations are well underway in Kinshasa. Today, we offer you an overview of the latest finishes of the work on the various sites that will host this major sporting and cultural event.
A delegation of ambassadors, including representatives of France, Switzerland, Canada and Senegal, visited the site to check the progress of the work. They were accompanied by members of the Congolese government, including Patrick Muyaya, Christophe Lutundula and François Kabulo.
The visit began at the Stade des Martyrs, before continuing at the Tata Raphaël site and at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), where the athletes will be accommodated for the duration of the Games.
According to the first observations on the ground, the diplomats and the members of the government said they were satisfied with the finishes of the works on all the sites. Within the UNIKIN, the houses for the athletes are ready to receive them, and the sports facilities, such as the football pitches, the basketball courts and the Olympic swimming pool, have been renovated to provide optimal training conditions.
Government spokesman Patrick Muyaya expressed his confidence in the smooth running of the Games. He stresses that the DRC will not only have the opportunity to participate in high-level sports competitions, but also to benefit from modern sports infrastructure, which the country has lacked for a long time.
This organization of the Francophone Games therefore represents a real opportunity for the DRC to position itself on the international scene and to promote sport and Francophone culture.
The completion of this work marks a significant step forward in the preparation of the Games of La Francophonie. The renovated sports infrastructure will not only make it possible to host this event, but also to organize other international competitions in the future.
There are only eight days left until the long-awaited opening ceremony. Francophone athletes from around the world are preparing to compete in different sports disciplines, while artists and creators are preparing to offer performances and cultural exhibitions that will highlight the diversity and richness of La Francophonie.
