In a recent dispatch, the coordination of joint operations between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and the Ugandan army (UPDF) announced a major victory against the terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). According to Colonel Make Hazukay, spokesperson for the joint FARDC-UPDF operations, 16 terrorists were neutralized in the Mwalika valley, located in Beni territory, North Kivu.

These terrorists had previously made an incursion into Uganda, in the locality of Mpondwe, before being tracked down by coalition forces. During the operation, which took place from June 20 to July 29, 2023, 24 hostages were freed and 10 weapons and military equipment were recovered.

This operation is part of a series of joint operations carried out by the FARDC and the UPDF since November 2022, aimed at putting an end to ADF activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both armies intensified shelling and search operations in the Mughalika Valley and Kasindi border area, with the aim of freeing hostages and neutralizing terrorists, in particular ADF leaders.

Among the terrorists neutralized during this operation, two commanders close to the AMIGO leader have been identified: Abdou Masirika and Kabangakane. Their elimination represents a significant step in the fight against the ADF, which is responsible for numerous attacks and insecurity in the region.

This victory underlines the importance of cooperation between Congolese and Ugandan security forces to effectively fight terrorism. It also carries a message of hope for the populations living in the region, showing that progress is being made in the fight against the armed groups that sow terror.

It is essential to continue to support the efforts of the security forces in their fight against terrorist groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This successful joint operation demonstrates the determination of the authorities to guarantee the security of the populations and to stabilize the region.

In conclusion, the neutralization of 16 ADF terrorists in the Mwalika Valley is a major victory for the security forces in the DRC. This joint operation between the FARDC and the UPDF demonstrates the importance of regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
