Saudi Arabia in the running for World Expo 2030: strengthening relations with the DRC to support its candidacy
In a move to organize World Expo 2030, Saudi Arabia is putting all the assets on its side and is seeking the support of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) when choosing the organizing country scheduled for November 2023 in Paris.
A special envoy from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and adviser to the Royal Court, Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Qattan, traveled to the DRC to discuss with President Félix Tshisekedi on the strengthening of bilateral relations. During this meeting, he confirmed the closeness between the two countries and expressed Saudi Arabia’s willingness to invest in the DRC in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, tourism and mining, depending on the opportunities available and the priorities defined by the Congolese State.
In addition to these investments, Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Qattan also proposed the forthcoming organization of a special conference with the DRC as well as an Africa-Saudi Arabia Business Forum, in order to strengthen economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
