“Major victory: 16 ADF terrorists neutralized during a joint operation of the armed forces in North Kivu”

Joint FARDC-UPDF operation: 16 ADF terrorists neutralized in Beni, North Kivu

In a recent dispatch, the coordination of joint operations between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and the Ugandan Army (UPDF) announced a significant victory in the fight against Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists. According to the spokesman for the joint operations, Colonel Make Hazukay, 16 terrorists were neutralized during an operation carried out in the Mwalika valley, in the territory of Beni, North Kivu.

This action follows the ADF incursion into Mpondwe, Uganda, on 19 June. Since that date, FARDC-UPDF coalition forces have intensified their shelling, search and combing operations in the Mwalika Valley, as well as in the border area of Kasindi. The main objective of these operations was to free all hostages and neutralize the terrorists, with an emphasis on the ADF leaders.

Thanks to these concerted efforts, not only 16 terrorists were neutralized, but 24 hostages were also released. In addition, the security forces seized 10 weapons of all calibers, as well as military effects and food. Among the neutralized terrorists are two commanders close to the leader of the ADF, AMIGO, namely Abdou Masirika and Kabangakane.

This victory is the result of close collaboration between the FARDC and the UPDF, which have been engaged since November 2022 in joint operations aimed at eradicating the threat posed by the ADF. This rebel organization, known for its acts of violence and deadly attacks against civilians, has been operating in the Beni region for several years, causing countless sufferings to the local population.

The elimination of 16 terrorists and the release of 24 hostages mark a further step towards securing the North Kivu region. However, there is still much work to be done to completely eradicate the ADF threat and bring peace and stability to the region.

This joint operation also underlines the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The collaboration between the Congolese and Ugandan forces demonstrates the desire of the countries of the region to work together to guarantee the security and protection of the populations.

Overall, this victory in the fight against the ADF is encouraging, but it is essential to remain vigilant and to continue efforts in order to ensure the lasting security of the North Kivu region and its inhabitants. The terrorist threat can only be eradicated through continued cooperation, shared intelligence and determined action by Congolese and international security forces
