“Maï-Ndombe: The low participation of women in the national legislative election raises concerns and calls for urgent action”

The participation of women in the national legislative election in the province of Mai-Ndombe, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is of concern. So far, only seven female candidates have been registered, including two in the town of Inongo and five in the rest of the territory. This low turnout was deplored by the provincial executive secretary of the CENI, Faustin Ngokumu.

In a territory where twelve seats are up for grabs, it is worrying to note this lack of commitment on the part of women. Faustin Ngokumu raises questions as to whether this is due to lack of financial means or lack of interest from women. It encourages the women of Maï-Ndombe to promote themselves and to seek equitable political representation.

At the same time, the extension period for applications is also experiencing a lack of enthusiasm. The CENI recalls that there will be no additional delay and that candidates must comply with the initial deadlines. It is crucial that candidates show their commitment and willingness to actively participate in the electoral process.

It is essential to emphasize the importance of women’s participation in political life. Their voice and perspectives are essential to ensure balanced and diverse representation in legislative bodies. It is therefore essential to raise awareness and support the women of Maï-Ndombe so that they can take an active part in this electoral process.

Building a more inclusive and egalitarian society requires the involvement of all citizens, men and women. By encouraging the participation of women at all levels of decision-making, we create opportunities for a more just and balanced future. It is time to promote the women of Maï-Ndombe and give them the chance to be heard politically.

In conclusion, the low participation of women in the national legislative election in the province of Maï-Ndombe is a worrying problem. It is essential to sensitize and support women in the region in order to encourage them to take an active part in this electoral process
