Title: Joint Fardc-Updf operations: Neutralization of 16 ADF rebels and release of hostages
Introduction :
The Congolese Armed Forces (Fardc) and the Ugandan People’s Defense Forces (Updf) announced today that they have successfully carried out joint operations against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in Beni territory, North Kivu. This coalition managed to neutralize 16 ADF fighters, including two commanders close to leader Amigo Kibiridge. The main objective of these operations was to free people held in captivity by the ADF. In this article, we will return in detail to these operations and the results obtained.
Development :
The joint Fardc-Updf forces have intensified their shelling and search and search operations in the Mwalika valley and in the border area of Kasindi. These actions were intended to facilitate the release of hostages held by the ADF and reduce their operational capacity in the region.
During these operations, 16 ADF fighters were neutralized, including two important commanders, Abdou Masirika and Kabangakane, who were close to leader Amigo Kibiridge. This success is the fruit of close collaboration between the Congolese and Ugandan forces, who have been working together for more than a year to fight against the ADF.
In addition to the neutralization of the rebels, these operations also enabled the release of 24 hostages and the recovery of 10 weapons of war, as well as military effects, food and non-food items. These notable successes demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated actions between the Congolese and Ugandan armed forces in the fight against the ADF.
These joint operations were intensified following an ADF incursion into Mpondwe in Uganda on 19 June. These cross-border attacks underscore the need for enhanced regional cooperation to counter rebel groups active in the region.
Conclusion :
Joint operations between Congolese and Ugandan armed forces resulted in the neutralization of 16 ADF fighters, including two senior commanders, and the release of 24 hostages. These successes testify to the effectiveness of the collaboration between the two forces in the fight against the ADF. However, it is essential to continue efforts and strengthen regional cooperation to definitively eradicate the threat of rebel groups in the North Kivu region
