Inspirational speeches by African leaders during the 43rd Ordinary Session of the African Union highlighted their commitment to regional integration, peace and sustainable development on the continent. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, opened the session by highlighting the progress made in the implementation of Agenda 2063, and calling for strengthened collaboration to achieve common goals. Madam Amina M., Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, praised the efforts of the African Union in promoting integration and sustainable development in Africa. She stressed the importance of international cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and expressed the commitment of the UN to support the AU in its efforts.
The President of Kenya, William Ruto, highlighted the importance of African integration for economic growth and poverty reduction. He hailed the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and highlighted its potential to boost intra-African trade. He also announced that Kenya will soon abolish the entry visa for visitors, thus contributing to continental integration.
The President of the Comoros, Azali, for his part underlined the importance of peace and the resolution of conflicts in Africa. He called for sincere dialogue between the warring parties and highlighted the key role of education in the development of the continent. He also revealed that Africa will need 17 million more teachers by 2030 to meet education needs.
This first part of the AU session thus highlighted the commitment of African leaders to regional integration, peace and sustainable development. These inspirational speeches highlighted the importance of cooperation and solidarity among African countries to address common challenges. The second part of the session will deepen these crucial questions and pursue the African agenda for a better future.
