The ADF strike again in the DRC: a deadly attack kills 12 in the Babila Bakwanza chiefdom

Title: Fight against the ADF in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a new murderous incursion into the Babila Bakwanza chieftaincy

Introduction :

The security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to cause serious concern. A new attack perpetrated by the rebels of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) was reported on Thursday July 13 in the Babila Bakwanza chiefdom, in Ituri province. According to information confirmed by Master John Vuleverio, Coordinator of the new Congolese civil society in Mambasa, this incursion caused the death of 12 civilians, with a human toll still being verified.

Progress of the attack:

According to the testimonies collected, the ADF launched their attack north of Elake village, causing 9 victims and also killed 3 people in Mangina-Pori, in the Babila Bapwele group. In addition, it is reported that more than 20 other lifeless bodies still lie on the ground in Mangina-Pori, shot dead by the terrorists when they returned from clashes against a Maimai self-defense group.

The need for an urgent military response:

Faced with this escalation of violence, Congolese civil society calls on the military authorities to intensify offensive operations against the ADF. Maître John Vuleverio stresses the urgency of taking serious measures to guarantee the safety of civilian populations, who live under the constant threat of these terrorist attacks.

Impacts on the population and the authority of the State:

The repeated attacks by the ADF in the Democratic Republic of Congo have dramatic consequences on the population and weaken the authority of the State. Civilians are the first victims of this situation, forced to live in fear and insecurity. Moreover, these attacks also compromise access to essential services such as health care, education and basic infrastructure. It is therefore imperative that the Congolese authorities take strong measures to deal with this threat.

Conclusion :

The Democratic Republic of the Congo faces many security challenges, including attacks by ADF rebels. To ensure the protection of civilians and restore public confidence, it is essential that the authorities take decisive action to neutralize these armed groups and restore security in the affected areas. The international community must also provide support to the DRC to strengthen its counter-terrorism capacities and promote stability in the region
